Colonial Waistcoat Wool
$
110.00

Colonial Waistcoat Wool

his is for a custom made men's waistcoat or vest. If you are a woman playing a pirate persona, this item would also work for you.

Waistcoat or "vest" appears very definately with the reign of King Charles II around 1666 during the Restoration in Britain. The terms used for this article of clothing are interchangeable, waistcoat, vest, or weskit. With the 17th century coming to a close a man's doublet became a waistcoat with a man wearing a coat over it.

By the 18th century, a man was almost never seen without one. To be seen without his waitcoat was considered "undressed". The vests of the 1750's were worn to the mid thighs. The vests of the 1770's were a bit shorter and worn at just below the hips. By 1810 the style became more fitted and shorter. Since then, the vest has changed very little.

This is for a man's waistcoat circa 1750's. It falls to about mid thigh length in the front and is a shorter length in the back to make it easier to wear and move.

This listing is for the waistcoat/vest made from a lightweight wool fabric. It is lined with a cotton fabric in a coordinating color to the front of the vest. The weight of the wool would be similar to suiting wool, just so you have an idea on wool weight :-)

There are working pockets on this waistcoat with pocket flaps. It buttons up the front with 8 covered buttons. The buttons are functional on this vest. There is a tie for waist adjustment in the back.

Colors available:

black
dark brown
navy
red (more cranberry)

**Please note: The vest shown has pewter buttons. Vest will come with covered buttons unless otherwise ordered. There is an additional charge for pewter buttons. Please see below for details. **

Jack Sparrow Pirate Vest Linen
$
125.00

Jack Sparrow Pirate Vest Linen

his is for a custom made wasitcoat (vest) patterned after the one seen in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Great for your Capt Jack persona! This is a reproduction garment. It is still period correct but it was made to look just like the one worn in the POTC movies.

Made from a dark blue 100% linen fabric. Back and front of the waistcoat are made from this linen. The inside is lined with a dark blue or gray cotton. The cotton helps hold a better shape to this garment as linen, while period correct, does not hold shape well. Linen tends to sag over time. If you are a reenactor this can be a problem with repeated use. I use a quilters cotton which is generally 80/20 cotton to poly blend (mostly cotton).

Style is the 1750's style which falls to mid thigh in length (the long style)

There are 12 actual buttonholes down the front of the waistcoat just like in the movie

Working pockets on this vest and the pocket flaps are styled after the actual costume. The flaps have working buttonholes as well...3 on each pocket

18 metal shank buttons are on the front of the waistcoat

Back of the vest falls to the hips and is vented at the sides. There is a linen adjustment tie on the back to adjust fit of the waistcoat.

Picture # 3 in my listing shows a black and white photo of the actual waistcoat for comparison.

Sizes available- S, M, L, XL

If you fall outside this range, please email me and I can make a custom pattern for you at a small additional charge (pattern and extra fabric charge).

Colors available: The waistcoat from the films is in a dark blue linen. But if you prefer another color, please refer to the color chart in the pictures. I can make this in any of those linen colors.

This is a custom made waistcoat in your size and color choice. I will need 2-3 weeks to finish your item before shipping. The linen is special ordered and it takes about 5 days for me to receive.

If you have any questions, please email me and I will gladly get back with you.

Pirate Colonial Era Men's Breeches

This sale will be for a custom made pair of men's 18th century "fell front" breeches. Very common style from the period and can be worn for your 18th century reenactment or for your pirate persona.

The breeches are made from 100% cotton canvas or cotton twill for comfort and durablity. You will be able to launder these and get many years of use from them. They are constructed with 2 inside buttons which are comparable to a modern fly but is called the "fall". There are 6 buttons on the outside front. The buttons will be in wood or metal, whatever is available to me. You can convo me with a preference of metal or wood. The breeches fall just below the knee and have 3 buttons on each leg. There is an actual waistband on these breeches. The breeches are very full in the back and narrow through the legs as was the general style. If this is the first time wearing them, they will feel unusual to you. But they are constructed to give you ample room to move and do all sorts of swashbuckling stunts :-)
